Doug is a 1985 graduate of Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in accounting. In 1988, he received a Masters of Science degree in Taxation from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan. Prior to joining Gospodarek, C.P.A., P.A., now Dreher Martin CPAs, he had over 10 years of experience as a corporate tax professional with major corporations including Chrysler Financial Corporation and La-Z-Boy Chair Company. He has twelve years of experience in public accounting working in a variety of areas including performance of audits, preparation of financial reports, and preparation of income tax returns for wholesale, retail, construction, service businesses and not-for-profit organizations. His experience also includes income tax planning and preparation for businesses and individuals.

Doug has also owned his own retail sporting goods store. This has given him invaluable experience and allows him to assist the small business owner from the initial installation of the accounting system, to growing the business, and to the successful operation of the business.


Doug is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received the CPA bronze medal (Katherine Guthrie Memorial Award) for the third highest score of the North Carolina CPA Candidates passing the November 2001 exam.
